1. Classic Burlap Sunflower Wreath

1

There’s something incredibly welcoming about a sunflower wreath hanging on a front door, and this version made with burlap gives it a warm, farmhouse-inspired feel that works from late summer all the way through early fall.

Materials: A 14-inch straw or foam wreath form, two rolls of wide burlap ribbon (natural or a soft mustard), a bag of medium sunflower heads with leaves, floral wire, hot glue gun, and a coordinating narrow ribbon for the bow.

Instructions: Cut the burlap into 4-inch squares. Slightly scrunch the center of each square and hot glue it onto the wreath form, overlapping as you go until the entire base is covered. Attach the sunflower heads with floral wire, clustering three larger blooms at the center-bottom and scattering smaller ones and leaves around the rest of the wreath. Finish with a generous burlap bow at the top.

Time: Around 90 minutes. Difficulty: Beginner-friendly.

For a softer look, swap the traditional yellow for cream-colored sunflowers, or add a few sprigs of eucalyptus for a touch of green. If burlap feels too rustic, try linen-look ribbon for a slightly more refined finish.

A common mistake is gluing flowers flat. Tuck the stems slightly into the wreath to give the blooms dimension and a more natural appearance. This wreath holds up beautifully in covered porches and shaded entryways.
