7. Country Plaid Buffalo Check Wreath

There’s a reason buffalo check has stood the test of time in farmhouse decor. It reads as cozy, familiar, and seasonal without being overly themed. A buffalo check wreath works from September through March, making it one of the most practical DIY fabric wreath ideas for front door decor.
Materials: A wire wreath frame, 2 yards of black and white buffalo check fabric, 1 yard of solid black flannel or cotton, a hot glue gun, and a wide plaid ribbon for a bow.
Instructions: Cut both fabrics into 1.5-inch-wide, 7-inch-long strips. Tie the strips onto the frame, alternating buffalo check and solid black in a pattern that feels balanced. Once the wreath is full and fluffy, tie a generous bow with the wide ribbon and attach it to the top with wire or hot glue.
Time: 2 hours. Difficulty: Beginner.
For an early fall version, swap black for caramel and add a few small pumpkins. For Christmas, layer in sprigs of pine and a few jingle bells. The base stays the same; only the embellishments shift with the season.
Hang it with a coordinating ribbon rather than a hook for a softer, more finished look. A wired ribbon holds its bow shape much better than a soft one.
