2. No-Roll Folded Diaper Cake

If rolling 70 diapers sounds tedious, this method skips it entirely. You fold each diaper in half and fan them in a spiral, which gives the cake a soft, ruffled texture that looks almost like fabric.

What you need: 50–60 diapers, a cake board, a large rubber band per tier, wide ribbon, and a center support such as a baby bottle or a rolled receiving blanket.

How to make it: Fold each diaper in half lengthwise so the printed waistband faces out. Stand them upright in a circle, overlapping like petals, until the ring is full. Slip the rubber band around the outside to hold everything, then cover it with ribbon. The folding goes noticeably faster than rolling, so this is a good option when you are making several cakes or working the night before the shower.

Time and difficulty: 40–60 minutes. The folding is quick, but the diapers can shift, so handle the finished cake gently.

One common mistake is folding too loosely — the petals then flop outward and the tier loses its shape. Press each fold firmly with your thumbnail before placing it. Decorate with a ribbon-wrapped center, paper flowers, or a small plush toy nestled on top.
