4. Diaper Cupcake Tower
Instead of one large cake, this idea makes a tower of individual “cupcakes.” Each one is a single rolled diaper, and the whole arrangement sits on a tiered stand. It is the most shareable option on this list because guests can each take one home.
What you need: 30–40 diapers, paper cupcake liners, small rubber bands, baby socks or washcloths, a cupcake tower or a stack of cake stands, and thin ribbon.
How to make it: Roll each diaper tightly and secure it with a rubber band. Drop it into a paper liner, then wrap a thin ribbon around the liner to hide the band. To make the “frosting,” roll a baby sock or a small washcloth into a swirl and tuck it on top. Arrange the cupcakes across the tiers of your stand.
Time and difficulty: 45 minutes for a batch of 30. The work is repetitive rather than difficult, so it is a good project to do with a friend.
Choose liners in the shower colors — gold, sage, blush, or a mix — and vary the sock colors for contrast. These travel better than a tall cake because each piece is separate, but pack them in a box with a towel underneath so the liners do not crush.
