9. Diaper Cake with a Baby Bottle Core
Building the cake around a bottle solves two problems at once: it gives the tiers a solid center to grip and it hides a genuinely useful gift in the middle.
What you need: One 8- or 9-ounce baby bottle, 60–70 diapers, rubber bands, ribbon, a cake board, and a dowel for stacking.
How to make it: Stand the bottle in the center of the board. Roll diapers and arrange them in a ring around the bottle, using the bottle as your anchor as you build upward. Each tier sits directly on the one below, held in place by the bottle running through the middle. Wrap ribbon around each tier and finish with a topper that sits inside the bottle’s neck, such as a small flower or a pacifier clip.
Time and difficulty: 55–70 minutes. The bottle makes stacking steadier, so this is a good choice for a first attempt at a tall cake.
Fill the bottle with something small before you build — a rolled onesie, a few hair ties, or a gift card tucked into a clean sock. Just make sure whatever goes inside is wrapped, since the parents will not be able to clean the bottle easily.
