2. Geometric Wooden Scrap Lanterns
Leftover building lumber, such as 1×2 or 2×2 pine and cedar offcuts, can be easily repurposed into sleek, open-frame geometric lanterns that blend modern lines with rustic warmth.
- Materials: Wood scraps cut to size, wood glue, brad nails, outdoor wood sealant, and pillar LED candles.
- Assembly: Cut four equal vertical posts and eight shorter horizontal crossbars. Assemble two square frames for the top and bottom, then connect them with the vertical corner posts. Sand the surfaces smooth, apply a matte weatherproof stain, and leave the sides open for natural airflow.
- Styling: Place varying heights (12, 16, and 20 inches) in groups of three on front porch steps or flanking patio entryways.
