8. Floating Popsicle Stick Hexagon Mini-Shelf

Mini decorative items, small succulents, and pencil sharpeners can take up valuable desk real estate. Miniature floating shelves add vertical dimension and warmth.

  • Materials: Jumbo craft popsicle sticks, wood glue, wood stain or acrylic paint, and small wall nails.
  • How to Make:
    1. Lay out six popsicle sticks to form a hexagon template on your work surface.
    2. Overlap the corners and apply a drop of wood glue to each joint.
    3. Continue layering sticks on top of each other, gluing each layer until the shelf reaches a depth of 12 to 15 layers.
    4. Allow the glue to cure completely, then brush on a warm wood stain or neutral paint finish.
    5. Hang the shelf securely on your wall.
