7. Disguised Shoe Box Cable & Charger Hub

Tangled charging cords for laptops, tablets, and phones detract from an organized desk space. A decorative charging station hides power strips and cables while providing designated charging slots.

  • Materials: A sturdy shoebox, wrapping paper or patterned fabric, metal grommets or eyelets, utility knife, and a power strip.
  • How to Make:
    1. Cover the entire shoebox and its lid with decorative linen-textured paper or self-adhesive vinyl.
    2. Cut three to four evenly spaced small holes along the front long side of the box and insert metal grommets to prevent fraying.
    3. Cut a single hole on the back side for the power strip’s main power cord to exit.
    4. Place the power strip inside, plug in your chargers, and thread the cable heads through the front grommets.
  • Styling Tip: Label each grommet hole with small tag stickers so you know which cord connects to which device.
