3. Woven Beaded Coasters
Transform simple plastic beads into functional, heat-resistant table coasters using a flat peyote stitch or ladder weave. Because pony beads are sturdy, tightly woven bead mats provide a sturdy base for cold glasses and mugs.
Using flexible jewelry wire or waxed polyester cord, string a foundation row of ten beads. Weave back through the row, locking new beads into the alternating gaps to build a solid, mosaic-like grid. Experiment with pixel-art patterns like cherries, smiley faces, or geometric chevron stripes. Once the square reaches your desired size, weave the remaining thread ends back into the body of the coaster and trim closely.
